It has been a while since I blogged. I used to do it faithfully, especially during the journey with Phill's illness, it was a great way to deal with my feelings. I have gotten away from my feelings and sharing them and sharing all of my photography. Friends and family remind me of this when they are patiently waiting for me to get the pics off of my camera and edited. Friends are inviting me scrapbooking. I used to scrapbook all the time. Now time escapes me.
Bob had softball tonight, the last game of the season and I went and took pictures. Eric has worked 13 out of the last 14 days, including today. He was sleeping before work, so he couldn't go. The picture is of the team at Penn State Summer Games, 2 weekends ago. They won silver. It was tough taking silver, but someone had to. The team that won gold, beat our team in the last inning by 1 run!
I came home to check email because one of the parents told me she sent me an email and I didn't remember getting anything. So I double checked and did not find anything. I also saw I had a coupon from Shutterfly - which was going to expire in 2 hours! Grab that camera and get editing - there are people waiting for pictures and this is what they want!
So after editing, the computer locking up and finally finishing up and seeing that I can get another coupon if I get my blog going again, I will do so! I do use Shutterfly a lot and love their products.

Too Cold for Me
Its been ccccold around here. So cold that I have dug out my "silk undies" and have given up looking pretty for work - sweatshirts and turtlenecks are the attire for me. I have not "lived" like this in quite a few years. I am not complaining. I remember 1994 when this week we had record lows, revolving power outages and snow packed on the roads that the plows could not get to the streets any more. The high temps were -28 degrees. That was cold. So I am watching my complaining and am very thankful that we have 2 fireplaces in our home and a furnace that works. I put the plastic over the windows that tend to let off cold air (our 9' living room window and our 6' dining room window - both with huge solid panes of glass). So they are not bleeding cold air into our home any longer. Yippee!
Bobby started bowling last night with Special Olympics. There were about 60+ athletes out. It was a large group! He had fun. He forgets to go to the center of lane and not turn his wrist over. So he gets really excited to get a spare or a strike. Next week is another week. He will do better. I will keep reminding him about how to bowl.
Well, supper is almost ready.

Catching Up
It's been a while since I sat down and updated everyone on what is happening in our lives. Oh my has it been nuts!
Bobby is in his Senior year. Where has time gone??? I mean it. I remember the day we met him - like it was last year. He was so small. He was wearing a size 18 month clothing and he was almost 3 years old. Now he wears men's medium. It has been a journey (yes, my eyes rolled). He is one busy kid. No med has ever worked 100% for his ADHD. If it kinda works, it only works for a short time. He misses nothing (love that ADHD). Anything changes in his world and he notices it. If it is in his schedule, beware!!! That throws him for a loop (still). On the positive side, I will never forget helping out in his school and having the teachers (notice the plural) come to me and tell me about his innate ability to know when they were having a tough day and how my son would come up to them and give them a hug - for no reason. All the adults in that building knew my son and thought he was special. That has not changed, for which we are very gratefully!
Phill is doing better right now. He ended up in a court ordered treatment center for those with mental health issues. It was helpful. What got him there made an impact on him. He had stepped so far away from us, relying on others so much and away from people we trusted and he learned a hard lesson - the hard way. The person stole his disability money, rented a room without windows and then would not give him money to purchase even a fan - or food for that manner. So in the hottest days of summer he had no where to cool off and no way to contact us (he had no money and no phone service). So he walked to his old home town (2 hours by car away) and told a cop he knew he was going to hurt someone - so he was immediately committed on a 72 hour "hold". During that time, it was discovered the person who stole his money also stopped his medical - so as soon as the 72 hours were up he was booted out the door. His old caseworker got involved and he got back to the apartment. She was working on a place for him to live in his old town when the temps spiked back close to 100 degrees. She had no way to get a hold of him and we didn't either. At this point we were fully aware of the seriousness of the situation. Housing in his old hometown is in a crisis situation - there isn't any available for low-income and then add his mental issues - forget it. So, he went to the hospital in the town where the apartment is and said he wanted to kill himself. He must have been in really bad shape because they knew something was really wrong. They took everything seriously. He got word to a his son's mother and she called us (gave us the wrong info-on purpose - another whole story). So I worked with the people at the hospital and then decided to go after the person who stole from my son and that opened a can of worms in this county. That can, led to Phill getting into this program and the program seems to have helped. He was just released to the step down program on Jan 5th - so we are only 11 days into seeing how this all goes. So far - so good. They are keeping really close "eyes" on him.
Eric is doing well. He has worked a lot this year. For the first time in eons, he had overtime. When economic times are good, he doesn't have overtime. When economic times start to go down, the candy business picks up. People have to have their candy. He worked weekends and many were "mandatory". Not only did have that happening, he was also filling in at one of our local nursing homes as they didn't have a Chaplain. He took care of the Wednesday services, sometimes alternating them with another Pastor. He did that for almost eight months this year.
Me, I am getting back to my old self. It has only been three years worth of doctoring. It feels good to be able to get moving again. I miss being able to be on the go from 7 in the morning until midnight. I was able to go back to work full time - I was pushed ahead of the schedule when we needed better health insurance that had doctors that worked with the state's insurance that Bobby is under as a secondary, back up insurance if ours doesn't pay, then they pick up the difference. We keep it for a safety net for Bobby. We never know what he will need down the road.
At first I hated the job. It wasn't what I was doing, it was the people. Well, the people have changed and it is much nicer to work there. It still isn't my dream job, but it pays the bills, gives great insurance and the group I work with are now nice.
Photography is a big thing in our house. I love to take pictures and hopefully now that I am feel better can get back to scrapbooking. Bobby is picking up my love of taking pictures. Eric's love is to stay out of them! I focus on nature. That is my first love. Now I am trying to learn how to take pictures of sporting events to capture the "moment". Bobby is involved in Special Olympics. He plays soccer in the Fall and Softball in the spring. Eric is the assistant softball coach. So I enjoy taking lots of pictures of the team and of Bobby in action. I've gotten so really good pictures of the athletes and some awesome ones of Bobby.
Let's see what else?? The dogs - Baxter (the noisy, nosey, naughty Basset Hound) and Chance (adorable, sweet, calm Cocker Spaniel) make our day. There is nothing better then coming home to the happiness of those two. Baxter is swatting everything with his tail and Chance is screeching with joy (sounds like he is being killed). Then they run to grab a toy - usually the same tennis ball - and one of them brings it to you. They are just so happy you came home - even if it was just from going to the mail box!
